Britt Weyts

Lawyer

Britt Weyts studied law at the University of Antwerp. In 2003, she obtained her PhD in law at the same university with a thesis entitled “Comparative fault in extra-contractual liability law”. Her PhD was awarded the Fernand Collin Law Prize in 2004. In 2004, she joined the bar and did her internship in the Thelius office under guidance of J.L Fagnart. In 2008, she joined the team of Johan Verbist at Linklaters. In 2013, she joined Omega Law.

Britt’s expertise is in the broad field of contract law, including extra-contractual liability law, and insurance law.

Britt has always combined her practice as a lawyer with an academic assignment at the University of Antwerp. She is full professor at the University of Antwerp in the fields of contract law and insurance law. She is also spokesperson of the Research Group Personal Rights and Property Rights and holder of a Chair in Liability and Insurance Law. She has an extensive list of publications and regularly gives lectures.
